Inventor Update

Published on June 23rd, 2025

At this point you've probably seen the news from BotGhost (https://update.botghost.com). We have not yet been contacted by Discord or asked to cease operations, but we have developed a plan to move forward while operating under the new standard Discord is establishing for bring-your-own-token platforms.

  • We are working to offer data exporting from the current instance of Inventor. This will not allow you to run your bot standalone but it will provide you with a text-based representation of your flows to help you re-implement them in another bot builder in the future. This is currently our top priority and we hope to release it in the coming week or two.

  • We are starting development on a new platform, Inventor v2. We have come up with a plan for a system that does not violate Discord's new interpretation of their terms of service (where bot builders do not qualify as service providers).

    • Discord is creating an environment where are not able to operate large-scale free tiers without violating their terms. As such, the Inventor v2 platform will likely be paid-only. We will be offering some form of a discount for people who already have Inventor Premium or Ultimate. Subscriptions will not automatically cross over to Inventor v2 as the payment structure will likely be very different.
    • You will not be able to move your data between Inventor v1 and Inventor v2. This means that all bots, flows, dbs, etc. will need to be fully re-created. This is due to technical limitations in the way we must must build our new platform to comply with Discord's new interpretation of their terms.
    • We expect development to take a significant amount of time (likely 6+ months before we are able to release a public beta) as it represents a significant change in Inventor's architecture and systems.
    • While this new platform is under development, we will continue operating Inventor v1 unless or until we are asked by Discord to cease operations of Inventor v1. Even if Discord doesn't require us to shut down Inventor v1 at any point in the future, we will be forcing a transition to Inventor v2 at some point. We are not planning on running Invenor v1 indefinitely, even if Discord does not force a shutdown.
    • We hope to have more information to share on this new platform soon and may be opening slots for a private alpha group in the near future.
  • We would like to ask everyone coming from BotGhost to be smart about the data they replicate in Inventor. Re-creating all of your flows is probably not wise at this time as we have absolutely no idea how much longer Inventor v1 will continue operating, and do plan to end service in the future.

  • We are disabling new yearly Premium and Ultimate subscriptions. We temporarily disabled all new subscriptions but have turned monthly subscriptions back on.

  • Finally, an update on data recovery. Inventor v2 will not be interoperable with data from Inventor v1, and we have no idea how much longer we will be allowed to operate Inventor v1. Therefore, we have made the difficult decision to cease data recovery efforts. We believe this maintains the highest likelihood of Inventor surviving as a company long-term and we believe it is paramount that we prioritize the health of the company given the difficult situation Discord has put us in.
